I have three titles for you to read this week, and then three short story recommendations.
I dare you to read them all.
I’m hosting the next Short Story Club on August 6.
Read the stories.
“In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson is Buried,” by Amy Hempel
“The Girl I Hate,” by Mona Awad
“The Two Offers,” by Frances Watkins Harper
Let me know if you’d like to join our chat about the stories. We meet online and you’re invited.
I look forward to my first in-person writers’ conference coming up in July. I’ll be heading to Muncie, IN, by way of Asheville, NC from Minneapolis, MN (my family and I are making an enormous roundabout road trip of the whole thing). I’ll be at the Midwest Writers Workshop Conference July 19-22.
Here are three stories I’ve loved lately. Read them.
“Maybe Your Mother Fell in Love with Fire,” by Patricia Colleen, published in Sundog Lit
“Howl,” by Eric Scot Tryon, published in Cease, Cows
“The circus without white horses or elephants,” by Fiona Lynch, published in Fractured Lit
I’ll be traveling and out of sorts the next few weeks. When I’m back, I’ll be back. :)
What time do you meet?
II read "The two offers." It really taught me that writing styles change over time, Therefore something written by a person in their 80's would look strange to people decades younger.
It was easy to read because you had it linked. Thanks.
Would you like me to join you on August 6?
